Why you keep going even though you already feel something is off
Why people who see more are often the first to burn out
Many professionals have spent years believing something was wrong with them.
That they were too sensitive, too intense, or simply less capable than others.
Sound familiar?
After all, how else could it be that you are the one who keeps running into limits, while others seem to move forward without much trouble?
But what if the problem is not that you can handle less..
but that you see more?
Many people who eventually burn out are the ones who notice things others do not yet see.
> They sense tension in a team before it is ever spoken aloud.
> They see when a strategy is unlikely to work.
> They notice when someone is not in the right place.
> Or when something within an organisation simply does not add up; when processes are inefficient or produce outcomes nobody really wants.
That ability is valuable.
But it also comes with a hidden trap.
Because when you see a lot, something often happens automatically:
you start carrying it.
Not because anyone asked you to.
But because you feel you should do something with what you see. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like a choice.
Once you see it, you cannot unsee it.
So.. you take on extra responsibility.
You start conversations that were never really yours to have.
Try to solve problems that are not actually your task to solve.
You work harder to keep the whole system running.
Not from ego or from the idea that you know better than others.
Often the opposite: you want to help, while at the same time doubting your own perception.
And somewhere in the background a question keeps returning:
Why does this seem so easy for everyone else?
That is often where the exhaustion begins.
Not because you are weaker! But because you are trying to carry a system that was never yours to carry in the first place.
Most people were never taught that there is a difference between seeing something and being responsible for it.
So, when they notice tension, they try to fix it.
When they see a problem, they repair it. Someone has to, right?
When something feels off, they adjust themselves.
Until their energy runs out.
The turning point often comes when someone realises for the first time:
Maybe I am not the one seeing this incorrectly.
In that moment, something fundamental shifts.
Not because you can suddenly close your eyes to what you notice.
But because you begin to learn the difference between perceiving and taking over.
And that is where real clarity begins.
If you recognise yourself in this dynamic of seeing a lot, carrying a lot, and eventually running empty --> it may be worth taking a closer look at that pattern.
Not by trying to feel less or see less. Please, keep your assets ;).
But by learning how to perceive clearly without having to carry everything you see.
When that shift happens, your sensitivity stops working against you and starts working for you.
Helping you create a life (and work) that actually fits who you are.
